Privacy Policy

This privacy policy explains how the app and its associated beta testing programme handle your information.

The short version

The app does not contain advertising, analytics or tracking. Your data is stored on your device unless you choose to connect the app to a supported self-hosted backend.

I do not operate a server that receives or stores your app data.

Beta testing

During the Android closed beta, I use Tally to collect the email address associated with your Google Play account and which supported backend you use.

Your email address is used to add your Google account to the closed beta. Tally processes the information submitted through the form on my behalf and is subject to its own privacy practices.

I will not use your email address to contact you unless:

you contact me first, for example to provide feedback or report a problem, in which case I may reply to you; or
you explicitly choose on the signup form to receive an email when the closed beta has finished.

The information collected through the beta signup form will not be used for marketing or advertising.

Once the closed beta period has finished and signup is no longer required, I will delete the signup form and the information collected through it from Tally. The Android beta will then move to an open beta which does not require this signup process.

Data stored on your device

Information you enter into or store within the app (“app data”) is stored locally on your device. This may include information about your vehicles and their associated records.

App data is used only to provide the app’s functionality and is not sent to the developer or any third party by the app unless you choose to configure a supported self-hosted backend.

Self-hosted backends

If you configure a supported self-hosted backend, some app data may be sent between your device and the server you specify. The app communicates directly with that server; this data does not pass through servers operated by the developer.

Connection details and credentials required to access your backend are also stored on your device and are used only to communicate with the server you configure. They are not sent to the developer.

You are responsible for the server you connect to and its configuration and security. This includes the security of data stored by the server and the security of the connection between the app and server.

For example, using HTTPS provides encryption while information is transmitted over the network, while an HTTP connection may transmit information without encryption.

This privacy policy and practices of any software or service you connect to are separate from this privacy policy.

Analytics, advertising and tracking

The app currencly contains no third-party analytics, advertising SDKs or tracking technologies.

The developer does not use the app to collect information about how you use it.

Apple and Google may independently collect information relating to downloads, installations, crashes and use of apps distributed through their platforms. They may provide developers with aggregated or anonymised statistics. This processing is performed by Apple or Google under their respective privacy policies and is not controlled by the app.

Crash reporting and diagnostics

The app does not currently send crash reports or diagnostic information directly to the developer.

If optional crash reporting, analytics or similar diagnostics are introduced in the future, this privacy policy will be updated before that functionality is introduced. Where such functionality involves sending information from your device to the developer or a third-party service, it will be opt-in.

The developer does not sell your personal information.

The app does not share your locally stored vehicle or fuel data with advertisers, analytics providers or other third parties.

Data is only transmitted to a self-hosted backend when you choose to configure one.

Data retention and deletion

Locally stored data remains on your device until it is removed through the app or the app’s local data is deleted.

Data stored by a self-hosted backend is controlled by that backend. You are responsible for managing or deleting information stored there.

Because the developer does not receive or store this data, the developer cannot retrieve or delete held data on your device or self-hosted server on your behalf.

Changes to this policy

This privacy policy may be updated as the app develops.

If a change significantly affects how the app collects, uses or shares information, the change will be bought to your attention within the app.

The date at the top of this policy indicates when it was last updated.
